CONTEMPORARY DWELLING ON DERRYGALLY ROAD, DUNGANNON
The proposed scheme aimed to provide a flexible solution for a young families evolving living requirements. The site is contained within the ‘Argory Demense’ adjacent to a major watercourse, River Blackwater.
Nest Architects conducted investigative work to assess the viability of the site with particular attention to the risk of flood and the challenging site topography. The use of a substantial plinth around the building provided visual impact whilst resolving the site issues and formed part of the overall site strategy.
The proposed building form is a simple linear pitched roof building on an east, west axis. The strong pitched gable end addresses the road which is typical of the traditional form and character of the area. This coupled with the narrow plan and deep recessed windows help to provide depth and variety to the elevations.
The use of slate, painted render and painted timber windows are respectful of the traditional context.
