AUTUMN – THE BEST TIME OF THE YEAR TO BEGIN PLANNING YOUR NEW HOME OR EXTENSION

22nd of September 2016 - its officially Autumn and I’m sure most of you are thinking the same as us; where has this year gone? The summer holidays are over, the kids are back to school tailored in their new uniforms and the days are getting shorter. School homework’s are back in full swing and football, rugby, swimming clubs etc have been joined, taking up most of our evenings and weekends resulting in “Mum & Dads” taxis being here there and everywhere. And on top of all of this Christmas is not all that far away.... So much to do and consider but never enough time!!!

And besides all of that, did you know that this time of the year is the perfect time to hire an architect and start designing if you are planning on building that extension you always wanted, or your future dream home. Something else to consider and squeeze in to that hectic schedule!

Nest Architects have found that peoples thoughts turn to the idea of building just after the new year, around spring time when the weather begins to pick up a little. However, before any building can take place we must allow for around 8-9 months before a sod can be turned, which includes a few months for designing, another three to four or sometimes more for Planning Approval, and finally another few months for Building Control Approval and tendering. And if this process is only considered and implemented around Spring time, it results in a build starting on site in the middle of Winter when normally the weather isn’t the kindest.

So ideally, the time to begin planning is this time of year so that building work can commence on site during the summer months. Just something else to consider and to be aware of during all those other chores!
